Ross Hester Funeral To Be Held At Misner Home; Friends May Call.
Funeral services for Ross Hester, who was slain in a gun battle with Luke Williams, insane colored man, Thursday night, will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Misner, 1006 North Hazel street, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, it was announced Saturday.
Rev. G. H. Boley, pastor of the Free Methodist Church will be in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Howard Smith, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Hoopeston and Rev. T. F. Shouse, pastor of Grace Methodist Church. Burial will be in Springhill cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Hester had been making their home with their home with her mother, Mrs. Misner, at the North Hazel street address since they moved to Danville last December.
The body of the slain officer will be removed from the Pape undertaking establishment to the residence Sunday morning, where it may be seen by friends anytime during the day.
The county board of supervisors carry liability insurance on all active deputy sheriffs, as well as other employees of the county, and the widow of Deputy Hester will receive approximately 3,750, it was announced Saturday. This amount will be distributed over eight years.
According to Lin H. Griffith, county auditor, the insurance carried by the county stipulates that the estate of any employee killed in line of duty will receive one-half of the salary of the deceased for eight years, but shall not exceed $3,750.
