Rock Hill--The funeral for Miss Clarina Cornwell of 411 Union Ave., Rock Hill, a native of Chester County, was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, from the chapel of Barron Funeral Home in Chester with the Rev. Robert Craven, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery on Route 3, Chester.
Miss Cornwell, 79, died Friday, Jan. 21, 1994, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
Born in Chester County on Jan. 23, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Mr. J. Clarence Cornwell and the late Mrs. Maggie Carter Cornwell.
Miss Cornwell was a retired educator, having received her Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop College and the Master's Degree from New York University. She taught in Cheraw and Columbia high schools before returning in 1942 to her alma mater to join the Winthrop College Department of Business Education.
Miss Cornwell remained on the staff of Winthrop College until she retired some 35 years later, in 1977, as Director of Admissions.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist church in Chester.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Evelyn McDaniel of Carlisle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials be made to either the Calvary Baptist Church, Route 3, Chester 29706, or to Winthrop University Foundation, Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill 29730.
