Aynor....Grady Rabon, age 68, went to be with his father on Tuesday, July 7, 2009.
Mr. Rabon was born in Conway, and was the third son to the late Mattie "Polly" Rabon Martin and the late Mose Abraham Rabon. He married Margaret Daniels Rabon and from this union are two children, a son, Darren Grady Rabon and his wife Jenifer Riddle Rabon of Conway. A daughter, Margaret Darlene Rabon Lovett and her husband Kevin Lovett of Green Sea. He was "Pa-Pa" to four grandchildren, Riley Wilson Lovett, Blakely Margaret Lovett, Banks Grayson Lovett and Taryn Elaine Rabon. His siblings includes two sisters, Betty Rose Hardwick and Mary Ellen Allsbrook (Ragsdale) of Aynor. Four brothers, Billy Rabon (Duffy)of Charleston, SC, Kenneth Rabon (Reba) of Conway, Earl Rabon (Lila) of Aynor and Charlie Ronald Rabon (Linda) of Lexington, SC and one step-brother, Nathan Martin, Jr. (Edna Bell) of Aynor. Also, he is predeceased by a step-father, Oscar Martin, special nephew, Rodney Dale Allsbrook and a father-in-law Henry Daniels. Mr. Rabon retired after 22 years of employment with ACS Mechanical of Myrtle Beach and 15 years with Horry County Maintenance Department. Life long member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Brotherhood Director, Song Leader, Superintendent, Teacher, Building Committee member. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Mercy Hospice for all their special kindness and support. Also to caregiver Garnett Miles.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Dock Rabon and the Rev. Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
