Jemima Barrow was born November 6, 1820, the daughter of John Barrow and Mary Steele Barrow. She married Thomas Cowan Burke (April 20, 1818-November 18, 1879), son of John Byron Burke and Jane Cowan Burke, on March 24, 1842. They had six children:
1. an unnamed child, born and died March 15, 1843
2. John Henry Burke, born July 4, 1844 in Randolph County, Illinois. He married Mary E. Green on May 21, 1868 in Randolph County, Illinois. He died 22 May 1898.
3. Francis Marion Burke, born January 8, 1846 in Randolph County, Illinois. He died April 1, 1895 in Illinois.
4. Edvin Taylor Burke, born December 12, 1848 in Sparta, Illinois. He married Mary Melissa Armstrong on October 18, 1876 in Illinois. He died September 23, 1883 in Sparta, Illinois and was buried at the Coulterville Cemetery.
5. Jane Catherine (Kate) Burke, known in some sources as Catherine Jane; born October 5, 1850 in Illinois. She died March 5, 1932.
6. William W. Burke, born August 7, 1852 in Illinois. He died February 13, 1853 in Illinois.
7. Horace C. Burke, born January 5, 1853 in Bradley, Illinois. He died November 29, 1853 in Bradley, Illinois. Burial in Barrow Cemetery.
