Funeral services for Mrs. Bettye N. Howard, 84, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S., with Dr. Jack A. Snell of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Naugle, John Naugle, Cade Naugle, Howard Bailey, Edward M. Booth, Jr., and Harold A. Kelly, Jr.
Born February 2, 1912 in Thorndale, Texas, Mrs. Howard died Tuesday, June 18, 1996 at her home in Jacksonville. She was a retired Legal Secretary. Mrs. Howard moved to Jacksonville in 1918; was a longtime active member of the Pilot Club; and was a member of the Southside Woman's Club, and the San Jose Country Club.
Survivors include her husband, James F. Howard; her sister-in-law, Mrs. John Naugle, both of Jacksonville; three nieces, Claudia Naugle, Wylene Reeber, and Theresa McMahan; a nephew, Stan Naugle; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and many longtime close friends.
