Ancil was born in Whitley county and spent all of his 85 years except a few months prior to his passing. These were spent with a son in Pontiac, MI. Ancil was one of 11 children; his grandfather, Ambrose, was the father of 22 children. Ancil was the father of 12 children.
Life was not a smooth road for Ancil, he was married five times, with children being born in the first three marriages. He outlived all five wives.
During his early life, he worked with coal, but his great love was farming and his family. He took great interest in helping build and found the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Ancil is fondly remembered by family and friends.
