PROF. P.M. CORUM PASSED AWAY TODAY
PROF. P.M. CORUM, PRINCIPAL OF THE ROSE SCHOOL, IN THIS CITY, PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING, FOLLOWING SHORT ILLNESS
-- BURIAL TO BE IN EUGENE – BODY WILL BE SHIPPED TO EUGENE TOMORROW FOR BURIAL – WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN AND OTHER RELATIVES SURVIVE

Prof. P.M. Corum, principal of the Rose school in this city, and a well known and respected citizen passed away this morning following a short illness, at his home at 311 Washington street. Prof. Corum was taken ill with tonsillitis about a month ago, recovering sufficiently to be able to walk to town, when he suffered a relapse, later developing leakage of the heart and kidney trouble, which resulted in his death at 8:30 this morning.

The deceased resided in Roseburg about ten years ago, when he was principal for two years of the old Lane school. He left this city in 1910, going to Eugene, and was principal of Lincoln in that city for seven years. The last two years were spent by Prof. Corum and his family in Los Angeles and Arizona. He returned here last fall to accept the principal-ship of the Rose school.

Prof. Corum was born in Missouri in 1872, and was 48 years of age. He is survived by his wife and two small children, Milton, aged nine, and Iris, aged eight; his father, J.W. Corum, of Eugene, and a step-mother and sister(s), also of Eugene.

He was a member in good standing of the Woodmen of the World, the Odd Fellows and the Masons. He had made a host of friends since residing in this city, and they unite in extending their sympathy to Mrs. Corum and family.

The body will be shipped to Eugene tomorrow morning for burial and the funeral will be held in that city Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Corum and children will go to Eugene tomorrow.
