Daughter of William & Mary Vance, wife of Josiah Hanby, mother to Josiah V., John, Mary Elizabeth, James, Serena Jane and Minerva.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hanby - died 24 Jul 1899. When Mrs. Elizabeth Hanby died Monday morning at her home in Lincoln Twp., near Summerset, IA, another one of the good and grand old mothers of Iowa passed to her reward. She was born in Beaver Co., PA, moved to OH in 1841, then to Iowa in 1853, and was eighty-eight years, and twenty-four days old at the time of her death.

Mrs. Hanby was the widow of Josiah Hanby who departed this life some three years since. Her children are J.V. Hanby of Sommerset, Mrs. Mary Lyon of Oklahoma, Mrs. Serena Marshall of the home, and Mrs. Minerva McClintock of Nebraska. They morn the death of a loving Christian mother, the community of a neighbor who was ready to give relief in time of trouble, and all who knew her a true friend.

The funeral occurred from the North River Church, Tue. at 2 o'clock and was conducted by her pastor Rev. Goodsell of the M. E. Church of which congregation she was a devout and consistent member.
