Robert came from a line of coal miners. One of his grandfather's David R Shorthilll, was a coal-miner turned gold-miner. (David's history can be found in Livingston Montana). He was one of three gold-strikers to hit gold in Emigrant Gulch, Montana, in paying quantities.
Robert was a WW1 Veteran.
Robert's death certificate states:
He was single and worked as a Laborer,aged 33 years,2 months and 15 days;he passed away at the Sewickley Valley Hospital of burns and pneumonia,caused when he accidentally caught his clothes on fire while burning trash at 108 Main Street in Coraopolis,PA.
