Funeral Mass will be in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Newton, with Father Barry Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Newton, with military rites by Jasper Post 20 American Legion.
Frank was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Newton, the son of Frank P. and Catherine Ochs Rubsam. He was a 1944 graduate of Newton Community High School. He served in the Navy during World War II. After returning to Jasper County, he owned and operated Jasper Clothiers in Newton until his retirement in December 1988. He served on the Newton City Council for two terms, was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus 1704 in Newton, 50-year member of Jasper Post 20, Newton VFW and a member of Jasper County Chamber of Commerce on the chamber board. Frank was a lifelong member and supporter of St. Thomas Catholic Church and received the 2000 St. Thomas School Distinguished Graduate Award. He loved to fish and spend time with family and friends on the Embarras River. He married Marilyn Geiger on Aug. 28, 1951, in Oblong.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years; children, Donna (Phillip) Kuhl, Julie (Ed) Girhard, Jerry (Vick) Rubsam, Cindy (Randy) Gorrell and Richard Rubsam, all of Newton; Mary (Jim) Stuckey of Effingham; Carol (Wendell) Hahn of Olney; Debra Rubsam of Villa Park; special friend to the family, Pam Viano; sister, Marcella Hartleb of Melbourne, Fla.; brother, James "Dutch" (Annette) Rubsam of Owensboro, Ky.; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diane; two brothers; and five sisters.
