Edwin Ford Blodgett was the son of Foster Blodgett, Jr. and Louisa Maria Foster Blodgett.

On May 23, 1878, Edwin F. Blodgett married Mary Ursula "Mamie" Johnston in Walhalla, Oconee County, South Carolina.

Edwin and Mamie Blodgett had four children named Edwin Foster "Edward", Ruth Louise, John Foster, and Lewis Blodgett.

In 1906, E.F. Blodgett was appointed Postmaster of Atlanta by President McKinley and reappointed by President Roosevelt and held that position until 1911.

Blodgett's previous occupations were Conductor and Purchasing Agent of the Western and Atlantic Railroad, Clerk in the Railway Mail Service, Superintendent of the Mail Carriers and Assistant Postmaster.

Edwin F. Blodgett was member of the First Baptist Church and he served as deacon.

At 9:00 PM,Thursday, October 3, 1912, Blodgett died suddenly at age 63 of sorosis of the liver.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 5, 1912 at 10 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Charles W. Daniel officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery with the board of deacons of the church as an honorary escort.
