On March 12, 1895, R.B. Blodgett filed suit for divorce from Susan F. Blodgett in Dallas, Texas. He said, a few weeks after the wedding, he went over to Atlanta on business, and when he returned, Susan had taken up with a notorious gambler and has since continued to be the man's mistress (Dallas Daily Times Herald, p. 8, col. 3, Dallas, Texas).
In June, 1895, the divorce was granted between R.B. and Susan (June 20, 1895, p. 8, col. 2, Thurs. Dallas Morning News, Vol. X, No. 262).
On June 27, 1895, R.B. Blodgett married Annie M. Noland in Floresville, Wilson County, Texas and they had two sons, Earl Gordon and Rufus Bullock Blodgett, Jr.
Blodgett was a traveling salesman. In 1890, he worked for the Atlanta Cotton Mills.
On Tuesday, February 5, 1918, R.B. Blodgett was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.

News was received in the city last night of the death of R.B. Blodgett, formerly of Chattanooga, which took place in Jacksonville, FL, last Saturday. He was 52 years of age.
