Foster Blodgett was the son of Foster Blodgett, Jr. and Emma Pool Blodgett of Atlanta, Georgia.

Foster was in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enlisted July 25, 1895 and was stationed on the USS Monocasy, USS Raleigh and USS Whaley. Blodgett served in the Spanish American War including the Battle of Manila Bay and served with the allied armies during the march upon Peking. He won a name for himself and a reputation for excellent work.

Blodgett had been connected with the postal service before leaving the states and resumed that position in the Phillipine Islands when the offer was extended to him.

In December, 1931, Foster Blodgett died in Manila, Phillipians. He was 57 years old.
