Born the daughter of William and Elizabeth Adaline Wellborn Ledbetter, Margaret was married in Tennessee to James Monroe "Jim" Christopher in 1853. They had 16 children together and moved to Lamar County, TX around 1871. After Jim died, Margaret moved to Louisiana to live with her daughter Artilda (see 1920 Census, George Thurman Family, La Salle Parish, LA). She then went to Texas to live with her daughter Dora Rogers. It was in Lamar County that she died May 30, 1922 at 4 a.m. of "Heart Block". Her grave in Evergreen is unmarked.

I was told by my Grandmother that the Christophers were so rich during the Civil War, that they could have wallpapered their home in Confederate money after the war.

Children: John T., George W., Susan E., Margaret Francis, Artilda Ann, James M., Benjamin F., Mary, Sarah, Joseph S., Martha, Henry E., Alexander, Dora B., and two others. One of the unknown may have been a twin of Artilda. There is a vague story in my side of the family that Artilda lost a twin sibling very young.
