E. J. MULLICAN FATALLY HURT IN AUTO CRASH (From The Frederick Post, Frederick, MD - November 5, 1932, pg. #8)

Lifeless Body Found Beside His Wrecked Auto Yesterday Morning.

The lifeless, frost-covered body of Edwin James Mullican, 116 Jefferson street, was found beside his demolished automobile four miles south of Point of Rocks early Friday morning. A scarred roadside telephone pole and the battered car told the story of how the young man met his death in an automobile wreck. His neck was broken.

Mullican, 26-year-old foundry worker of this cirty, had left his home Thursday evening to go to Leesburg. So far as could be learned he was alone. He was apparently on his way back to Frederick some time during the night when the accident occurred.

The wreck took place in Loudoun county, between Leesburg, Va., and Point of Rocks, this county. The car in which Mullican was riding had left the highway and plunged down an embankment, where it struck the pole. The young man evidently suffered instant death.

His body and automobile were found beside the road about 4 o'clock Friday morning by a road workman, who notified Sheriff A. S. Adrian, at Leesburg. Mullican was identified by the license numbers on his automobile after the Loudoun county sheriff had notified police headquarters here. Officer Crum, acting desk sergeant, then went to the home of Mullican's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Zimmeran, 112 Jefferson street, and informed them of the accident.

The mother of the young man, Mrs. Charles E. Mullican, had been waiting up during the night, as was her custom, for her son to come home and became hysterical when told of the accident. He and his family made their home with his father and mother. He is married and has three children. His wife was Miss Elizabeth Darr, of Brunswick.

Besides his father and mother and his wife and children, Mullican is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Charles W. Mullican and Mrs. Emory B. Shipley, this city; Miss Catherine Mullican, Baltimore; Mrs. Percy Burke and Mrs. Lloyd Zimmeran, this city; George Mullican, Washington; Mrs. Edward Derr, near Frederick; Miss Cora Miilcan and Albert Mullican, at home.

The funeral will take place from late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with services at the house. Interment will be made in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Thomas P. Rice, funeral director.
