CARL B. ATTEBERY
---Carl B. Attebery, a former resident of La Plata, died at his home in Kirksville Saturday from heart disease. He had been in impaired health the past three years but was not bedfast and had been downtown Friday.
---Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:30, conducted by the Rev. L. V. Freeman of Kirksville Christian Church. Burial was made in La Plata cemetery.
---Mr. Attebery was in the grocery business in Kirksville. He went there after operating a grocery store here for several years.
---Born November 11, 1877 at Locust Hill in Knox county, he was the son of John Jefferson and Esther Elizabeth (Baker) Attebery. He grew to you manhood in Knox county from where he moved to Illinois Bend vicinity and also lived a short time in Oklahoma.
---He was married in 1905 to Miss Catherine Orr and six children were born. Surviving are his widow, six sons and daughters; Dr. Paul Attebery, Milwaukee; Mrs. Robert N. Jones, St. Louis; Dr. K. J. Attebery, Camdenton, Mo.; Mrs. Lynn Jones, Pueblo, Colorado; Mrs. George Miller, Milwaukee; and C. B. Attebery, Jr., at home; two grandchildren, Linda Jones, St. Louis and Carol Lynn Jones, Pueblo, Colorado; four brothers, Lawrence, Atlanta, John, Illinois Bend vicinity, Frank, Auora, Illinois, and Orin, Elmer; three sisters, Mrs. E. H. Hawkins, La Plata, Miss Anna Attebery, La Plata, and Mrs. James Mock, Elmer.
---Mr. Attebery was a member of the Christian Church.
