They started their journey to America on 4 April 1854. Sarah died in 1854 at St. Louis, Missouri, as did two of their children: Emma & Caleb; and 1 grandson, Ezra.
After his first wife died, William married Sarah Yarnell on 9 July 1859. She was a widow, being previously married to Richard Evans. They had one son, Richard Ephraim, born 26 May 1860.
Nearly a year after William and Sarah were married William drowned in the Provo River. Richard, their son, was only 6 weeks old.
