---William R. Buck, seventy-two, died at his home in the Newburg Community west of La Plata at 9:30 Sunday night after a short illness.
---William Robert Buck, eldest son of Sylvester and Mary Jane Buck, was born in Athens, Ohio February 15, 1863 and died at his home at Newburg, Missouri, March 10, 1835 at the age of seventy-two years, and twenty-three days.
---He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Nelson on June 23, 1895. Two children were born to this union, Leonard of Melbourne, Missouri and Glenn of the home. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Bobby and Irene Buck of the home and Will Lee Buck of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Madie Curtis of near Gifford and Mrs. Rosa Robinson of La Plata; one sister, Mrs. Mary Sewell, having preceded him in death.
---At the age of thirty-seven he united with the Baptist Church at Gifford and lived a christian life until his death.
---Mr. Buck, at the age of seventeen, engaged in blacksmithing at Newburg, a profession he kept until the time of his death.
---Funeral services were held at the family home Tuesday morning at ten, conducted by Andrew Miller of near Gifford and burial was made in the Indian Hill cemetery.
