DEATH TOLL HEAVY DURING WEEK ; SIX TAKEN
Flu and Other Diseases Cause Deaths of Six Well Known Residents of County
Death has taken a heavy toll in Jefferson county during the past week , six well known people having succumbed to influenza and other diseases. Those who have answered the final summons are Mrs. David Ballinger, Mrs. Albert Bawalski, Mrs. Emma Sand, Stephen Mitchell, Benjamin Rudin and Al Robinson, Mrs. David Ballinger Following an illness of only a few days with influenza, Mrs. David Ballinger, who moved from Golden to Arvada a short time ago, died at her home Monday afternoon. She had reached the age of 56 years, 2 months and 19 days. The death of Mrs. Ballinger removes one of Jefferson county's best known and most estimable ladies. She had spent all of her life in this county. She was a daughter of the late Asahel Haines and was (can't read) homestead on Ralston creek on the 11th day of November, 1863. She was married to David Ballinger, also of Ralston creek, in 1881, and they lived on the Ballinger farm until four years ago, when they moved to Golden to make their home. Three weeks ago Mr. Ballinger traded his home in Golden for a small tract in Arvada and he and his wife moved to that town. A few days ago Mrs. Ballinger was seized with the dread influenza, pneumonia developed and the end came Monday. Deceased is survived by her husband, seven daughters, two sons and sixteen grandchildren. Her daughters are Mrs. J.F. Roberts and Mrs. L.R. West of Arvada, Mrs. T. P. Price, of Longmont, Mrs. Ben Kerr, of Golden, Mrs. E.D. Beach, of Denver, and Mrs. E.D. Nelson, of California, and Miss Nellie Ballinger of Denver. Her sons are E. M. Ballinger of Cody, Wyo., and E.D. Ballinger of Arvada She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Mrs. W. H. Scott, of Brighton, Mrs.Herman Schoech, of Franklin, Calif., and Fred R. Haines, of Washington, Penn. Mrs. Balllinger was a honored member of the Golden lodge of the Neighbors of Woodcraft.
Funeral services will be held at the Woods & Sanders undertaking parlors tomorrow at 12:30, with services by Rev. H.C. White, of the Presbyterian church. Interment will be at Golden cemetery
