Oroville Mercury, Wednesday, November 6, 1918, pg 1 col 5: Mrs. L.S. Dumas, Nee Nellie Bills, is Dead. Word has reached Oroville of the death of Mrs. L.S. Dumas, nee Nellie Bills, which occurred November 4th at Donner. Mrs. Dumas well known in this community where she lived for many years and many relatives and friends will regret the passing of the young matron, who was but twenty-two years of age. Besides here husband she is survived by her mother, Mrs. John H. Bills, and two brothers, Bert H. Bills and Charles W. Bills, of Berry Creek, and two sisters, Mrs. Milton Coverston, of Spanish Peak, and Mrs. John H. Burns, of Oroville.

C.L. Bills, of Oroville, and Wm. Bills, of Wyandotte, are uncles of the deceased.

The remains will arrive in Oroville this evening. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Oroville Mercury, Saturday, November 9, 1918, pg 1 col 2: Mrs. Nellie Dumas Laid to Last Rest. Mrs. Nellie Dumas, known to her girlhood friends as Nellie Bills, was buried yesterday afternoon in Oroville cemetery, following funeral services in the undertaking parlors of Hamilton & Riley. Many beautiful flowers were laid on the casket.

Words of comfort were spoken and a brief service was conducted by Rev. S.D. Hutsinpiller. Mrs. M.E. Phares and Mrs. J.H. Bullard sang appropriate songs.

The pall bearers were: F.L. Humphrey, W.H. Davis, Plumey Davis, Harry Gilbert, L.D. Wallace and W.S. McCallan.
