Virginia Chidester Smith, age 87, of Myton, died November 11, 1995 at Stewarts Cedar Crest Care Center. She was born February 19, 1909 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Lafayette Chidester and Elsie Cyrene Hicks Chidester. She married Willard A. (Pete) Smith March 7, 1927 in Duchesne; he died March 8, 1972. She worked as a school lunch cook in Myton for 27 years and was the city recorder for Myton city for 21 years, both at the same time. She was a writer, historian and genealogist, and enjoyed gardening and landscaping.

Virginia is survived by three daughters, Betty Brokaw, Salt Lake City; Genele "Jean" Rippon, Los Angeles, CA; and Mrs. Ray (Darlene) Perry, Las Vegas, NV. Eleven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, some great great grandchildren, a sister, Louise Mecham of Price.

She was preceded in death by a son, Willard Bert Smith, brothers, and sisters, Luella Powell, Florence Anderson, Edna Merrick, Esther Powell, LaFayette Chidester, Joe Chidester and Alton Chidester. Burial in the Myton Cemetery.
