---Mary Edith (Nan) Buck, 89, died early Sunday morning at the La Plata Nursing Home, where she had resided for almost six moths.
---The funeral for the lifelong Gifford resident was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the La Plata Baptist Church, with the Rev. Anthony Bland officiating. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
---Born October 19, 1891 near Gifford, she was the daughter of Samuel Kinley and Sarah Augusta Curtis Shumaker. She married George Edward Buck on March 26, 1910 in Macon. He died on May 26, 1966. She was also predeceased by two sons, Kenneth in 1959 and Leon in 1973; two brothers and one sister.
---Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Ruth) Bailey of La Plata; three grandsons and one granddaughter and nine great-grandchildren.

---Born Oct. 19, 1891 in Adair County near Gifford, she was the daughter of Samuel Kinley and Sarah Augusta Curtis Shumaker. On March 26, 1910 in Macon, she was married to George Edward Buck who preceded her in death on May 26, 1966. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Kenneth Buck in 1959 and Leon Buck in 1983; two brothers and one sister.
---Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Ruth) Bailey of La Plata; three grandsons, Larry Buck, Raymond buck and George Buck, one granddaughter, Mary Ruth Gilliland; and nine great-grandchildren.
---Mrs. Buck was a life long resident of the same farm in the Gifford community until she entered the nursing home.
---Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 9, 1980) in the La Plata Baptist Church. The Rev. Anthony Bland, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
---The body is at the Pollock Funeral Home in LaPlata, where it will remain until noon Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church.
---Bearers will be: Weaver Bragg, Randall Roberts, Wendell Curtis, Virgil Buck, Orval Ratliff and Frank Vaughn.
