Jesse Phineas Burdick, only son of Albert H. and Laura Muncy Burdick, was born
in Licklaen Oct. 13, 1874, and died at the Cortland hospital Sept. 30, 1917,
from injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred near East Homer
on the evening of Sept. 27.

In October, 1902, he was married to Clara Johnson, formerly of Bersford, S. D.,
and to them were born two daughters, Neva and Vera.

They lived on the old homestead on South Hill until about five years ago when he
purchased the far near the creamery, for many years owned by James Holl.

Mr. Burdick was an industrious and enterprising farmer, a kind husband and
father, a most accommodating neighbor and was, at the time of his death serving
his second term as superintendent of the highways for this town, being a strong
Republican.

The funeral was held at his late home Thursday afternoon, where a large circle
of friends and relatives assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to the
departed.

The floral tributes were many and beautiful and showed the esteem in which he
was held.

He leaves, besides his wife and two daughters, his father Albert H. Bardick, and
one sister, Mrs. George Baldwin, who have the sympathy of the entire community
in their sad affliction.

The passion of this man causes the deepest regret, owing to his untimely death.

Rev. A. L. Briddon of DeRuyter conducted the services and Funeral Director I. E.
Smith had charge of the burial at Lincklean Center.
