Lucy was the sixth and youngest daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Bannister of Southfleet and the sister of Lydia, Ann, Sarah, Susan, William and John.

She was baptised at St Nicholas Church, Soulthfleet, on 28 July 1811.

She married John Davis at St Peter and St Paul Church, Milton, on 8th March 1836, she must have been illiterate, as she leaves only an "x" as her mark in the church records. They had eight children, Richard,1830?, Sarah, 1836, John, 1838, James, 1840, Mary, 1843, Edward, 1846, Mary, 1850 and Tomas, 1853.

At the time of the first National Census in 1841 she was living in Stone Mile, Northfleet, but by the 1851 census had moved to The Alley, Northfleet. She was widowed in 1856 and by 1861 was living at 5 York Terrace, Northfleet with five of her children and also with her sister Ann Bannister as a boarder. At this time she was working as a charwoman. In 1871 she was living at 5 College Lane, Northfleet, with her youngest son, Thomas, who worked as labourer. In 1875 she and Thomas moved in with Thomas Handley at 11 the Creek, Northfleet after the death of Lucy, her daughter and his wife.

She died in March 1895 and was buried in Northfleet Cemetery in grave 410D. Her grave is unmarked.
