"Honey" or "Kacky", as she was known to family and friends, was named Alice Mason at birth. Her father on her birth record is listed as John Mason. His whereabouts are unknown. Kacky was raised as the middle daughter of Vivian Goodrich and lived most of her life in Petersburg, VA. In the early 1940's she married William S. Elder of Hopewell, VA, became a homemaker and raised two children - William S. Elder, Jr. and Peggy Marie Elder. In the late 1970's after she and Willie divorced, she remained in Petersburg raising her two children and lived a very vivacious life. On January 31, 1980 after a courageous battle, Kacky died at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. In September 1991 her daughter, Peggy Marie Moore, was killed in an auto accident. Both are buried in Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, VA.
