Lanty Cook

Lanty Cook, 63, of Jack Street, Lester, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at his home, following a sudden illness.
Born on Aug. 8, 1945, in Boone County, he was the son of the late Milton and Martha Justice Cook.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Rose; a son, Lannie Cook; and by several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Cook worked as a carpenter, he worked in the coal industry, and worked as a security guard. In his spare time he enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Rollins Cook; three children, Lonnie and Jennifer Cook of Lester, Bobby and Bessie Brown of Fairdale, and Christina and Douglas Goff of Harrisonburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Michael and Dustin Goff, Christian, Courtney, and Ian Cook, and Elizabeth, Robert, and Eva Brown; and a great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Marie Goff.

He is also survived by two brothers, Leon Cook and wife of Jeffries and Lester Cook and wife Sue of Uneeda; and three sisters, Marie Workman and husband Ro-ger of Ashford, Linda Estep of Briar Creek, and Lou Lou Green and husband Norman of Uneeda.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 10, 2008, in the Melton Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Kopperston Community Cemetery, Kopperston, W.Va.
