Jules Janis, 82, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2004, which his wife and sons at his side. A veteran of World War II, Janice served as a Sergeant in General George S. Patton's Third Army's battles through France. He returned to civilian life and began more than half a century as a leader in the women's retail ready to wear business throughout the entire country. He operated the Chicago Store downtown and at Sunrise Mall as well as the Red Rooster Store. He was a devoted husband to Roslyn, father to Brian (Pilar) Janis and Brett (Gabriela) Janis, and grandfather to Erika, Nathan and Nicholas. Mr. Janis is survived by a brother, Arthur Janis, and was preceded in death by a sister, Hedy Handler, and a brother, Morty Janis. Graveside funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2004, at the Hebrew Cemetery /City Cemetery (located at the corner of E. Madison and East 2nd St. in Brownsville). Cantor Henry P. Greenspan will officiate the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, leaves make donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the American Arthritis Foundation. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Joe I. Trevino, Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., 542-5511.
