Helen Goodwin Naugle, 87, died Wednesday, February 17, 1999. She was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1935.

Mrs. Naugle was one of the first women to serve as a Captain in the Women's Army Corps from Florida during World War II. She was past President of Southside Womens' Club where she was instrumental in the relocation and building of their new club in 1957. A long time member of San Jose Episcopal Church where she served as the first woman on the Church Vestry, Charter member of San Jose Country Club, Wolfson's Children's Hospital Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #28 and a avid card player and golfer.

She was the widow of the late Robert M. Naugle and is survived by her sons, Robert M. Naugle (Elaine) and Paul C. Naugle (Patty); sister, Otis Seawright; stepdaughter, LaVern Klein and her family; grandchildren, Cheryl Wortelboer (Rob), Christina N. Bowen, P. Cameron Naugle, Jr., and Paula Naugle; four greatgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Anita Huff (Allen) and Margaret Naugle; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 1999, at San Jose Episcopal Church with The Reverend Robert W. Cowperthwaite and The Reverend Franklin R. Taylor officiating. Interment in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Naugle Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
