Amanda was the 13th known child of Absalom B. & Barbara E. Alfrey Clark. She was known to the family as "Aunt Duck". The story goes that her father gave her the nickname of Duck. Either she swam like one or she waddled like one.
We thought she was probably born in Coles Co., IL, but in her daughter, Ella's birth record it states she was born in Douglas Co., IL. Her birth year was either 1853 or 54 . Found it both ways. She married May 19,1872 in Jasper Co.,MO to William Bloomfield (1849-1894). She had 9 children: Daisy (c.1873-bet 1880-1900), Charles Odes (1875-1958), Mertie (c.1877-bef 1880), Della Marvel (1880-1966), Absalom G. "Ab" (1882-1934), George Martin "Mart" (1882-1947), William Walter (1884-1919), Ella (1889-1985) & Isle May (1896-1981). May apparently didn't belong to William.
