Vera May Gladfelder, 84, of Centerville, died Tuesday, 5 Mar 1996 at St Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville. She was born 10 Dec 1911, in Exline, the daughter of William and Mary Rice Stevens. She married Glen Gladfelder 23 Sep 1943 in Albia. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Cathie Knorr and her husband, Stephen, of Centerville and Glenda Gladfelder of Glenwood; two sisters, Mrs JA (Ruth) Gladfelder of Centerville and Dorothy Maitland of Rockford, IL; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Vernon. She was a school teacher and taught in Exline and Numba for many years. She was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church and the 1880 Club. Funeral services will be held at 1030 am Saturday, March 9, at the Lange Funeral Home with the Rev Carl Heien officiating. Burial will be in the Dale Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 pm Friday. A memorial has been established to the 1880 Club and may be left at the funeral home.
