Mrs. Mary A. Higgins Dies At Home Of Her Son
Mrs. Mary A. Higgins died at the home of her son in Cass City on Jan. 8. Had she lived until the 20th of February, she would have been 82 years old.
She was born near Hagersville, Canada. On Jan 5, 1847, she was married to George Higgins at Hamilton, and in the spring of 1865, they moved to Michigan. In 1866 they moved to their farm in Elmwood township when all the country about them was a wilderness. Six children survive the mother as follows: James Higgins of Rochester, Mrs. J.F. Hendrick, Mrs. Albert Wickware and John Higgins of Cass City, Mrs. Henry Ormsbee of Bellingham, Wash., and Mrs. Helen McConky of Gagetown. Two of her children preceded Mrs. Higgins in death: Mrs. Isabella Clark of Grand Rapids and Mrs. John Anker of Duluth.
