He was born January 23, 1883 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Landelin and Sophie (Plas) Harter.
George was united in marriage to Emma Stodt. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Helen (Rudy) Pehlke, town of Almon, Lillian (John) Hull, Gillett, Frances (August) Hubert, North Chicago and Clara (Gordon) Kirchner, Milwaukee; two sons, Landelin Harter, Schofield and Frank Harter, Dryden, MI; and grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 28, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Droegemueller officiated. Interment was in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood.
