John Henry Parsons was the eldest child of Clement and Elizabeth Blandford Parsons, although he had several elder half-siblings. The family moved from Kentucky to Louisiana when he was about 8 and then moved on to Missouri 4 years later. He married Mary E. Girton in Missouri and they had 4 children-Mariah, William Alisha, Thomas and Oscar Henry. The family moved on to Oklahoma where John and his wife died.
