Richard was the youngest child of Clement Parsons and Elizabeth Blandford. He married (1) Martha A. (O'Neill) Moore and they had four children- Zelma Baker, James Parsons, Richard Ellis Parsons, and Mabel Bryant. Martha died in 1889 when the children were very young. After the children were grown, Richard married (2) Jennie Victoria (Rhoades) Murphy on 09 Apr 1910 in Eureka, Humboldt, California.

Pioneer County Resident Dies
Fortuna, Nov. 7
R. M. Parsons, pioneer resident of Humboldt county died at the home of his son, Dr. J. E. Parsons of Dixon, California, yesterday. He was 86 year of age and was a native of Missouri.
Until three years ago Parsons resided at Hydesville, where for many years he conducted a drug store. He left there to reside with his son in Dixon.
Deceased is survived by one son, Dr. Parsons, of Dixon, two daughters, Mrs. G. F. Baker of Los Angeles and Mrs. R. T. Bryant of Fortuna, one stepson, E. J. Moore of Loleta and six grandchildren.
The remains will arrive in Fortuna on tomorrow morning's train. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Hunter-Wise funeral parlors and interment will be in the old cemetery at Hydesville. Miss Mary Robertson will conduct the services.
