Last rites for August F Schmidt, 77, who died at 10:30 pm Saturday at his home in Washington Township on US Highway 30, will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at the residence and at 2pm at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of which he was a member. The Rev Alfred Boester will officiate. Death was attributed to a heart ailment, Mr Schmidt having been in ill health several months. A well-known farmer of Allen County, he had lived on the same farm 66 years. Surviving are three sons, Christ at home, August of Fort Wayne, and Carl of Washignton Township; three daughters, Mrs Emma Moore, Mrs Augusta Witte and Mrs Amelia Mertens, all of Fort Wayne; a brother William of Lake Township; a sister Mrs Augusta Kurtz, of this city, and 10 grandchilren. The body will be returned from Klaehn & Sons' Funeral Home to the residence where friends may call after 6pm today. Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
