Services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday in Surburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church for Helen Schmidt, 83, of 5820 W Washington Center Road. She died at 6:40 pm Sunday in Lutheran Hospital, where she had been a patient since Dec 25. She was a lifelong area resident. Surviving, all of Fort Wayne, are a daughter, Leona Bratmiller (s/b Bradtmiller); two sons, Paul and Carl; a brother, Fred Fruechtenicht; and a sister, Ida Hartman. Friends may call after 2 pm today at Klaehn's Wayne Street Chapel and after noon Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are gifts to the church.
