Lewis William Gore was the son of Henderson French Gore and Sarepta Rosella Caperton-Gore. He was born at Pride Village, West Virginia, October 14,1866.

Prior to 1900, he and three of his brothers traveled to Washington state and spent some time digging gold in the Yukon territory. After making a sizable fortune in gold
he returned to Mercer County, bought real estate and set up several businesses in Princeton.

Upon his return, he married Bertie Alice Keatley, daughter of George Washington Keatley
and Cynthia Mary Jane Martin-Keatley, in November 1900.
Bertie and Lewis had six children together.

Forty-four days later, Lewis William died of stomach cancer. Lewis was just 51.

Bertie and Lewis left six orphans behind who were divided into four families to be raised but they were strong and resilient and thrived after the loss of both of their parents.
