Rufus Whaley Maynor, 80, died May 24 at the residence on Altoona route one after a brief illness. A retired farmer and native of Blount County, he was the son of the late John and Mollie Petty Maynor. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Bell Allgood Maynor; two sons, N. V. of Oneonta route three, J. V. of Birmingham; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Starkey (Jamie), Mrs. M. D. Blalock (Leora) both of Birmingham; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Eudell Morris of Birmingham. Funeral services were held May 25 from Lebanon Methodist Church, the Revs. Gargus Nichols and Andrew Oden officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery, Lemley Funeral Chapel in charge.
