John Day Maynor was born Feb 2, 1869 in Lee County, Alabama, and died July 26, 1956 in Brownwood, Texas. His parents were John Thomas and Mary A. "Molly" Peddy Maynor. He was a stock farmer.
Children of John Day and Melvina were: Ellena Doris Maynor, Bera Ellen Maynor, Dewey W. Maynor, Solomon Floyd Maynor, Quincy Ulus Maynor, Annie Cleora Maynor, Amos Coble Maynor, Martha Irene Maynor, John Day "Jack" Maynor and Evelyn Lula Maynor.

JOHN DAY MAYNOR OF ZEPHYR DIES

John Day Maynor, 87, of Zephyr died early today in a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Zephyr Methodist Church with Rev. J. W. Tickner officiating. Burial will be in Zephyr Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Mr. Maynor was born In Lee County, Alabama, Feb. 2, 1869. He came to Brown County from Alabama in 1896. He had been a member of the Masonic lodge at Zephyr since 1910 and was a member of the Zephyr Methodist Church. Mr. Maynor was a retired stock farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Melviney Maynor of Zephyr; four sons, S. F. of Brownwood, Q, W. and A. C. of Zephyr, and J. D. Maynor of Portland, Ore.; five daughters, Mrs. Lena Edwards of Waurika, Okla., Mrs. Bera Murphee of Weatherford, Mrs. Annie Grimes of Olton, Mrs. Irene Mayes of Brownwood, and Mrs. Evelyn Kornegay of Oakdale, Calif.; one brother, Rufus Maynor of Oneonta, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. W. F. Murry of Birmingham, Ala., and another sister whose name was not available; 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Another son, D. W, Maynor, died in 1918. Davis-Morris Funeral Home Is in charge of arrangements.
