The following biography appears in the "HISTORY OF ADAIR COUNTY, MISSOURI" by E.M. Violett, published in 1911 & reprinted in 1977, page 1090.
...T. E. Elmore, a native of Adair County, was born July 8, 1864, being a son of W. C. and Eliza Elmore.
...He was married in 1888 to Allie Begole, daughter of D. W. and Lyda Begole. They had six children: Opal, born September 9, 1889; Ora, November 28, 1890; Fay, November 24, 1892; Warren, September 13, 1900, deceased; Aubrey, December 27, 1902; Vita, July 17, 1908.
...In 1888 T. E. Elmore and his brother, George, built the first store in Gibbs, it being the first business establishment there. They continued that business four years, then Mr. Elmore sold out his interest there and moved to a farm south of Gibbs, remaining there till 1902. At that time he moved to Gibbs, and went into the banking business, remaining one year. He then went to Oklahoma and remained a year, returning to Adair County, where he bought his present farm, one mile north of Gibbs. It consists of 320 acres and is well improved. He handles Polled-Angus cattle, Shropshire sheep and Percheron horses. He has what is considered one of the best farms in the county and a beautiful home. Besides his home farm he owns 360 acres in Arkansas.
...Mr. Elmore is a Republican in politics, an member of the I.O.O.F. fraternity and belongs to the Methodist church.

Brashear, March 6, 1953. Terry E. Elmore, 88, well-known retired farmer and stockman of Gibbs, died in a Kirksville hospital last evening at 5:30.
...Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock from the Christian Church in Gibbs. Rev. G. D. Hammontree, pastor of the EUB Church in Brashear will conduct the service. Interment will be in Union Cemetery at Gibbs.
...He was the son of William G. and Eliza (Clark) Elmore and was born on a farm south of Gibbs on July 8, 1864. He was married to Alice Begole on November 7, 1888, and six children were born to them.
...Mrs. Elmore preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1949. One son died in infancy.
...Surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Opal) Thomas, of Moberly, Mrs. Virgil (Ora) Hanks, of Brashear, Mrs. James (Faye) Davidson, of La Plata, and Mrs. Arden (Vita) Peabody, of Winslow, Wash., and one son, Aubrey C. Elmore, of Gibbs; 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
...Mr. Elmore was the last of a family of 13 children. He lived most of his life in Gibbs and vicinity. He and his brother built the first store in Gibbs in the year 1888. He was a member of the Gibbs Methodist Church.
...The body will remain at the Easley Funeral Home here until the funeral hour.
...Escorts will be Ed Wilson, Winn Bragg, Guy Daniels, Albert Coons, Bert Begole and Claude Fortney.
