Wilhelm Naschinski was born in Kunchengut, Kreis Osterode, Ostpreussen, a son of Johann Naschinski and Maria Rettkowski. The family later moved to Gelsenkirchen, Erle, and Bochum, Germany. He sailed from Antwerp 5 July 1911 on the S.S. Montezuma and arrived at the port of Quebec 17 July 1911. He joined his father in Frank, Alberta, Canada. Wilhelm entered the United States 22 May 1912 (St. Albans Records). He then settled in Springfield, IL with his parents and 6 of his sisters (one sister, Emma Waschkowsky, remained in Germany with her family). Wilhelm married Augusta Louise Sokolis 6 September 1912, and they had six sons: Paul, William, Emil, Walter, Daniel, and Albert. William worked as a coal miner and was also an employee of Pillsbury Mills for sixteen years.
