Mr. Vandiford, a retired Air Force Sergeant, was a native of Pitt County, He served in the Air force for 20 years and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving: his wife, Doris Harris Vandiford; daughters, Joan Tanner of Mobile, Ala., Patty Cole of Goldsboro and Connie Sue Vandiford of the home; son Duane Vandiford of Goldsboro; sisters, Sudie Skomski of Tonawanda, N.Y., Margaret Drake of Washington, Christine Oakley, Bette Oakley and Rivers Horne, all of Ayden; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. The family will be at the residence.
