Jarrett was called "Coon" by the family. He was the son of Joshua Jenkins and Cerrene Elder. He married Alda May Craig daughter of Thompson and Judith Craig on 10 December 1908 at Marion County, Iowa and they had no children. His wife was the sister of Della Craig Jenkins wife of Jarrett's brother Joseph. Jarrett was a farmer in Marion County and was buried at Graceland cemetery.
