A Good Man Gone - Mr. Elijah Woolsey died at his residence in this village on Thursday morning abut 2 o'clock. For several weeks his death has been anticipated, as the nature of his disease, rheumatism in the vicinity of the heart, left little hope of ultimate recovery. At times his sufferings have been great, yet his end was tranquil.
Mr. Woolsey and wife moved from Orange county nearly fifty years ago and located on the farm, a short distance south of our village now occupied by his son Mr. Lewis H. Woolsey. Mr. Woolsey in all the long period during which he has been a resident of our town, was a good citizen, an industrious farmer, managing well his own business, rearing his family to be an honor to their parents and the community. He was a man of excellent judgement, and well balanced mind, social and friendly in his demeanor to all. Few men have been so generally and universally well spoken of. His fifty years of married life had been entirely happy. His children are respected and esteemed and his bereaved wife will in her widowhood receive the sympathies of all. Mr. Woolsey had been for a number of years a consistent member of the Reformed Church. His funeral will be held at the church, at 2 o'clock, p.m., on Saturday.
