Fred Beer was born Feb. 24, 1986 in Weiden, Germany, the son of John and Anna Beer. He spend his early years in Germany and in Nov. 1923 came to the United States and settled in Plankinton, SD, where he worked on a farm with friends he knew from Germany. In 1925 he moved to Glad Valley and on June 14, 1926 he married Mary Boeding at Timber Lake. In Oct. of that year, this couple moved to a farm 12 miles west of Isabel where he speny the balance of his life. He passed away Thurs., Feb. 2, 1984 at his farm home after an illness of 2 months.

Mr. Beer served on the district school board for many years, served on the Board of Ziebach County Commissioners for 16 years, and during WW II he was assigned to do surveilance in his area for the FBI.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Beer of Isabel,; five sons, Leroy and Adolph, both of Isabel; John of Timber Lake; Fred of Keldron and Bernard of Faith; and one daughter, Alice (Jim) Hulm of Timber Lake. 28 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters-Louise in 1947 and Mary in 1983 - three brothers and once sister.
