LeRoy WIlliam "Bud" Beer was born March 11, 1929 to Fred and Mary (Boeding) Beer on the family farm 11 miles west of Isabel, SD. He grew up on this same farm and attended the Van Dusen rural grade school. At the age of 17 he contracted polio. He spend the next 24 months in the hospital. Despite his disability Bud received his GED and also studied accounting. Later he bought an insurance agency in Isabel where he sold insurance and did tax preparation work. He worked primarily with the Milbank Mutual Insurance Company. He operated the insurance agency until 1996 when he was forced to retire because of health reasons. He enered the Beverly Health Care Center in Mobridge in October of 1996 where he was a resident at the time of his death.

In 1992 Bud was honored by the Milbank Mutual Insurance Company for 25 years of service.

Bud loved his nieces and nephews and took great interest in their activities and accomplishments. He also loved horses and to watch the cattle on the farm through the window of his room.

He is survived by his brothers Adolph (Marge) Beer of Isabel, SD, John (Marueen) Beer of Timber Lake, SD, Fred (Karen) Beer of Keldron, SD, Bernie (Karen) Beer of Faith, SD and brother-in-law Bill Alley of Isabel SD; one sister, Alice (Jim) Hulm of Timber Lake, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mary Beer and Sisters Louise Beer and Mary Alley.
