Robbie played the violin as an amateur.
In his younger days Robbie was a salesman, chauffeur, piano mover and superintendent at a bakery. In his later years, 1942-1955, he was a member of the Interstate Police located at New Hope, PA. His assignment was to patrol the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge in uniform. When his youngest brother Archie Lawrence would drive his family across the bridge, his nephews and niece would all wave and shout "Hello" to him. After Robbie's wife Lizzie died in 1958, he could be seen as a somewhat lonely figure in and around Parkland, Pennsylvania smoking a pipe wherever he went for the next 30 years. He died at the Attleboro Nursing Home, Middletown Township, Bucks County, PA.
