"Bert W. Auer, 59, Gladstone, died Oct. 1, 1987, at North Kansas City Hospital. He was born in Bogard, Mo., and lived in this area for 31 years. Mr. Auer was a truck driver and a member of Local 541 of the Teamsters union. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Carrollton, Mo. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Auer of the home; two sons, Mark W. Auer of Lathrop, Mo., and Mike Auer of Kansas City; a daughter, Jane E. Brown of Kansas City; five sisters, Delores Lewis of Gladstone, Frances Eschenbach of Tina, Eloise Shirk of Blue Springs, Nell Johnson of Claycomo and Carol Messenbrink of Pleasant Valley in Clay County; and four grand-children. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at White Chapel Cemetery." The Kansas City Times, October 3, 1987
