MRS. ANNA SCHAEFER
Mrs. Anna Schaefer, 86, of R. 2, Hilbert, died early today at the home of her brother, Michael Sommers, Forest Junction, following a short illness.
She was born Jan. 15, 1877, in the town of Brillion, a daughter of Stephan and Caroline Gottwald Sommers, and was married to Charles Schaefer on July 5, 1900, at Hilbert.
After their marriage, the couple settled on the Schaefer homestead farm two miles west of Forest Junction. Three years later they moved to Orlando, Okla., living there until 1915 when they returned to Wisconsin to take charge of the Sommers farm following the death of her mother.
On July 2, 1950, they were feted at a dinner in Hilbert in honor of their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Schaefer died April 25, 1959.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Mothers Society, and the H. D. Society of the Gesu Congregation of Milwaukee.
Suvivors are four sons, Walter of Sturtevant, Wis., Silverius, of Brillion, William of Kaukauna, Reuben of rural Hilbert; a sister, Mrs. Crescentie Jansch of rural Kaukauna; a brother, Michael Sommers of Forest Junction; 16 granchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert. The Rev. Alfred Loehr, pastor, will be celebrant of the requiem Mass and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kapitzke Funeral Home, Hilbert, after 3 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Thursday.
