Will be Married to Miss Effie Guion in This City To-Morrow Night.
Dr. J. P. McCombs, one of the most popular physicians of Charlotte, is to be married in this city to-morrow night to Miss Effie Guion. The ceremony will be performed at the home of the bride, on Ninth and Brevard streets, and will be of a private nature, the invitations being limited to one or two friends outside of the family. After the wedding, Dr. McCombs will take his bride to the handsomely furnished home which he recently purchased on West Seventh street.
Miss Guion will arrive in the city this morning from New York, where she has resided for a number of years past. She is a daughter of the late Benjamin Guion, of Lincolnton, and of Mrs. Kate Guion. Her mother is a daughter of the late Dr. Pinckney Caldwell, who was one of the most noted physicians of this section of the State, and under whom Dr. McCombs studied medicine. Miss Guion is a most lovable young woman, endowed with a bright intellect and a charming personality, and as to Dr. McCombs, his very name is treasured as a household word in Charlotte. He is loved by all, from the children with the sunny curls to the old people with the wintry locks.
Among the post marriage entertainments already arranged is a reception by Mr. and Mrs. Wade H. Harris, at their home on West Sixth street. Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Stokes and Mr. and Mrs. George W. Bryan will also entertain in honor of the popular couple.
